Negotiating Wages With Your Manager

May 21, 2009 by admin

Some positions advertised will have a negotiable wage, and this will depend on the qualifications and experience the candidate is bringing to the job with them.  If you are applying for this sort of position it is important that you do some research about the job before you turn up for the interview in order to negotiate successfully for the best wage you can.

Bargaining Position

You will need a solid bargaining position when negotiating your wages, so compile a list of your individual strengths, achievements and qualifications, and also your weakness as this will give you a more realistic idea of what to expect.  You must also learn as much about your competition as possible, and how many other applicants have been granted an interview.

It is also important that you do some careful research into the general pay scales within the company/organization you are hoping to work in, and what wages are the norm for the position you are applying for, as this will help you to judge a fair wage for both you and your potential employer.
